Great Guys Exist, But They Might Be Trapped in First Date Hell

Editor’s Note: This is an excerpt of a guest post I wrote for DatingAdvice.com.

first-date-hellA few days ago, I spoke to a woman named Stacey who shared the story of her younger brother. He’s a guy with a stable job.

He’s a fantastic uncle to her kids, he feeds the homeless on Wednesday nights, and he’s a perfect gentleman to friends, co-workers and even strangers.

He exercises regularly, eats healthy and has no criminal record (that should give him 50 bonus points right there).

“that should give him 50 bonus points right there”

I really don’t see why it should.

I continue to be puzzled as to why women have to be perfect but if men are just “decent citizens” — never mind if they stomp all over your feelings with their bad behavior and failure to communicate and “exit sign” madness, and then we’re told by dating “experts” that “that’s how men are” instead of those “experts” going to men and saying “You know, that kind of behavior isn’t okay” — we’re supposed to shower them with “bonus points”.

Why are women continually encouraged — by “experts”, no less — to put up with so much less?

The 50 bonus points was in reference to not having a criminal record and was meant as a joke.

Dear Im, are you part of the solution or part of the problem? Rather than knocking relationship coaches, can you share how you bring awareness to men?

    How do you contribute?

My blog is about bringing awareness to how men & women communicate. In addition, I am a heart protector help those avoid the very men you speak about.

You have obviously been hurt in your life and by your tone, I suspect you are bitter towards men… how does that serve you?
